Yet another doctors appointment... with some interesting news...

Pregnancy update for 31 weeks!
2 posts in one day! You lucky people you! I wasn't planning on posting after today's doctor appointment because it was not going to be anything major, just a little check up. But low and behold, I am on modified bedrest for at least the time being. Agh!
But we are getting ahead of ourselves. Let's start with this weekend during the baby showers. Saturday night I woke up feeling a lot of painful swelling in my hands and feet. I thought it was just from the days activities and sleeping in a hot room with no fan. The swelling ended up staying with me for Sunday and Monday- my poor feet looked awful! I could barely put on my clogs and it was painful to walk around. I called my doctors office to get some advice on reducing the swelling. Turns out they thought it was a bigger deal than I thought and wanted to have me come in that day to run some tests. My doctor wasn't in that day so I met with the nurse practitioner. We did the normal checks on weight and blood pressure, pee in a cup ect. Everything looked ok, but when she looked and measured my legs, she was concerned. She ordered me off my feet and out of work for 2 days to see if the swelling went down. They also did some blood tests too and we were going to wait on results. Turns out everything looked fine and they said I could to back to work and just keep my regular appointment Friday.
That brings us around to today!! I went in today and was able to meet with my normal doctor. After measuring my legs it showed that the swelling only went down about a centimeter and I only lost about 2 pounds of water weight and my legs and feet are still tight and painful. My doctor is concerned about pre-eclampsia and toxemia because the swelling came on rapidly and pretty heavy. So here is what we have going now. I am now on bedrest when I am not at work and when I am at work, I must be seated!! Yikes!! In the mean time we are running more tests on blood and urine and added a doctors appointment for this coming Thursday to check in on the legs and get the test results.
Obviously, Jeff and and I are praying that all will be well and these limitations will only last this week. Of course we will do whatever we need to to keep me and our daughter safe and healthy, but if I have developed pre-eclampsia and must go to complete bedrest it will be a lot on jeff to handle work, the holidays, and moving - all happening in the next 2 months!!! I am trying to keep from worrying before we get any results and doing my best this week to get the swelling down.

Spring Hill Snow!!!
We have had some fun times the last 24 hours with all this snow! When I left work last night in Green Hills there was a mix of snow and rain, but then by moving up to Jeff's office on Dickerson Pike, it was just rain. Regardless, traffic was a MESS! We decided to wait out the traffic and just go ahead and eat dinner at the Macaroni Grill in Opry Mills. Our meal was great, but cut a little short by a phone call... Dad called and talked to Jeff - the weather in Spring Hill was much worse! Mom and Dad were not even able to get home last night in the car, they had to park at the bottom of our street and walk up! The roads were slushy and icy and the snow was about 3 inches deep. For those of you who have been to "the ridge" you know how steep the hill is and covered in snow it would be no fun to try and drive up - much less to have to hike up! After this news we decided to leave Macaroni Grill and get home as soon as possible before the roads got worse. It was so surreal driving down from north nashville to south nashville! We had rain, the slush, then a little dusting of snow, then a ton of snow - All in less than an hours drive. Jeff did awesome driving in the snow and though it took us a while, we got home safe and sound! We took it slow, had a few slick moments but my new car, with Jeff behind the wheel, was able to make it up the ridge and safely home with no hiking needed. I was very grateful for that! It was a fun adventure :)
Once we safely got home, we realized how beautiful the snow was! We had to get out and play in it! :) We ran inside and got all bundled up and grabbed our camera (it is water, freeze, shock and crush proof so no problems taking into the snow!) The snow was at least 3 inches deep and the trees were totally coated - again I must say how beautiful it was! Brady was having a blast in the snow too. And for those of you that know of Brady, he hates it when it rains and will not step foot on wet grass unless completely necessary. For some reason, when it snows, Brady loooooves it! He runs and plays, he will try to eat the snow and will just about bury his face in it coming up with snow all over his nose. It was so fun playing in the snow with him and seeing how much he loved it. Jeff and I had a great time taking pictures (or trying) of all the snow and trees and Brady of course. It was one of those memorable times when you are just having pure fun and enjoy being with your loved ones (dog included) and you almost feel like a child again. After the snow, we curled up inside with some hot chocolate and football. It made for a great ending to a great night!

Baby Shower Weekend!
This was a wonderful weekend! I have wonderful friends and family who threw me 2 wonderful baby showers!
On Saturday the 6th, Mom and I drove up to Bowling Green KY for baby shower number 1 thrown by my friend Sarah Edmundson. Mom was able to have lunch with her longtime friend Donna Rigdon and I met up early with Sarah for a little pre-baby shower lunch of Bowling Green's finest - Mancinos!
The shower started at 2 and we had a great spread of potato skins, mini quiches, dip, fruit, cream puffs, cookies, and more! Sarah went above and beyond and we had a great time eating and catching up with friends that we hadn't seen in too too long. And of course, we had to play some fun baby games. We had a blast trying to catch each other saying the word "baby" and were trying to capture as many clothes pins as possible to try and win the prize. Sarah had also loaded up a clear container with baby diapers and we had to guess how many diapers were packed into the container. 103 diapers to be exact! Finally, all the woman had to guess how big my belly had gotten - scary thought! They had to cut a run of yarn that they thought equaled the measurement around the belly and then they all got measured. Mom was the winner! She guessed within 1 inch - good job mom! Present time came next.
I received some wonderful gifts - a bouncer, little pink outfits, teeny wash clothes and hoody towels, blankets, toys, slings, monitors and more. But more than this, I already feel that our little girl is loved and that we are blessed for having these women in our lives. I will always cherish the advice and memories that were passed around from mothers who have gone before me. They reminded me that I will not always do everything perfect, but we will learn together and no matter what, she will always love me. Thank you Sarah, for all the time and love you put into this shower. For all the women who joined us, I will always remember this time preparing for our little girls arrival and you made it even more special. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
After our Bowling Green shower, Mom and I kept heading north to Owensboro. We had a great night with my sweet Nana :) The next morning we took Nana to Mass at Precious Blood and enjoyed seeing the John Rudy Clan at church. Spending time with my Nana and mom was great, I heard stories from when Nana had her twins many years ago - it is amazing how times have changed! I wish we could visit more often, but even just this visit did good for my heart :)
The Rudy women gathered at 12:30 at my aunt Weenie's house for a beautiful baby shower luncheon. Weenie went above and beyond and fixed a great lunch of Chicken Poppy Seed cassarole, spinach salad with raspberries, blueberries, and candied pecans, and a wonderful orange cranberry bread. Oh and the dessert! Peppermint ice cream pie with a chocolate crust and hot chocolate sauce drizzled overtop. mmm mm good :)
It is a rare occasion that just the women are able to gather and gossip! I heard stories from them when they were children, and their stories of raising their own children! We laughed and carried on through lunch and into present time - I learned many fun things about my own mother from her friend Donna who was also able to join us with her daughter Holly. My little one received great gifts of clothes and toys, a Bumbo, blankies and crib sheets, and her first Baby Einstein dvd - among many other pretty pink things. Thank you to my aunts and cousins and friends who were able to join us for this time - it is more than special to be able to learn from my family before starting my own family.

3rd Trimester!!
Pregnancy update! This week we hit a big pregnancy milestone: our 3rd Trimester! 2/3s done, 28 weeks and 7 months pregnant, or 12 weeks to go - however you put it our little one will be here before you know it! It is amazing to think that we will have our little girl in our arms in just a matter of 3 short months. And this being the holiday season, those 3 months are going to fly by even faster. I can't believe it is the week of Thanksgiving with Christmas a mere 31 days away.
My 28 week OB appointment was today! It was just a quick in and out check, no ultrasound or anything cool like that ;) I did get to hear her heartbeat, very fast and strong. Other than that everything looks great, a little anemic but nothing a little iron can't cure! I am now up to an appointment every 2 weeks and then in a mere 7 weeks up to once a week. WOW I probably won't have another ultrasound unless they have something they want to check. I have to say that that stinks! I really want to see our little girl again - it has been since 22 weeks and I can't believe I am going to go the last half of the pregnancy with no new picture.
I have been very blessed by having a pretty uneventful pregnancy thus far with no morning sickness or complications, and other than the normal tiredness and being worn out I am pretty happy with making it this far with no crazy stories to tell! However, the past couple weeks as I have been moving toward this final trimester, things have been picking up a bit. My heartburn and indigestion has been kicked up a few notches making me feel very icky at night and it has continued on throughout the day as well. I have learned that I can no longer bend over to pick things up thanks to this rise in heartburn as well as the growing belly. As for the belly... I haven't really been uncomfortable thus far with the added weight or bulge, but that is also catching up with me! Certain positions sitting or laying down, even walking, I can really feel the pressure and weight keeping me from doing what I would normally do. Even rolling over in bed is becoming a task! (and of course every time I roll, my bladder gets squished which inevitably makes me need to get up and pee!) At this point, she has all her parts in place and everything is as it should be, she is pretty much just putting on weight from now on. For mom, that means that I will get bigger faster and more uncomfortable quicker in the last 3 months than in the first 6. Here we go!!
What else is going on in life... the new car is still great! With the cold weather setting in the remote start is pretty darn awesome :) Work is also going well. We are moving into holiday, so the store is getting more and more busy. They are being really great at understanding and working with me on days off, OB appointments, and time needed off my feet in this busy time. In other news, we still have the kittens. We have had 2 people that have promised to take them, we were giving directions and figuring out a time to meet and then all the sudden we hear nothing from them. We were very disappointed :( we just want to find a good home for them and that is getting harder and harder to do. They are back on craigslist now and maybe 3rd time is a charm. If this keeps being a pattern they may be with us when we move - which hopefully is just about a month away. The nesting is starting to kick in, especially with my baby showers right around the corner, I need a nursery!
I think that just about sums it up for now. We are looking forward to Thanksgiving and all the many Christmas parties that we get to enjoy over the next month so I am sure we will have more to blog and more pictures to post!

New Car!
As you can see from the title of this post... we have a new car! We knew my VW would need to be replaced, but were hoping it would keep holding out for us. Looks like that didn't happen. While it was not the best timing, God worked everything out for us and we think we have made the best decisions and are excited about our new car for our new little girl.
Here is the long and the short of it...
Wednesday night we were heading from work to small group game night (and we were very excited) but passing downtown on 65 the cars check engine light came on and it was shuddering real bad. Jeff was driving thank goodness, so he pulled of the interstate and coaxed the car along. It was very hard to accelerate and he put it in neutral as much as he could, he did a great job! We finally made it to firestone hoping they could help out in some way. They were going to try to look at it that evening so we had some time to kill downtown. We decided we might as well be proactive and visit the chevy dealership to start looking around (worst case scenario we thought). We looked at a chevy impala that would be closest to our budget and looked at what it would take to get out of the VW and into this car. The terms were not great and firestone hadn't gotten to look at the car yet, so we really didn't know what we would need to do yet. The guys at Beamen were great though - they let us take an "overnight test drive" so we could get home that night and for them, they wanted to sell a car! So home we go! It was a late night and a long day.
Thursday we go the bad news... it was going to be at minimum 1000 big ones to fix the VW. They also said it would need tires and breaks again soon - both things we had to work on about a year ago - that was another 1000 we had spent. We weighed our options and it seemed like the VW was on its last leg and it would cost us more to keep it and keep putting money into a car that was worth maybe 1500 bucks that it would be to go ahead and look for a new car. We decided to start looking around at other cars. The impala deal that beaman had for us was just not good, so we made the choice to turn that down. Good thing is... Jeff's brother Matt is Finance Manager at Gary Force Honda in Bowling Green (wow, that is a lot of capital letters in one sentence...) There was nothing more we could do on Thursday, it was in Matt's hands. Jeff had a video shoot to direct for the YMCA, so we were there til about 11 thursday night.
Friday! Friday was a crazy day. Me, Jeff, Matt, and their Dad spent all day back and forth on the phone calling and texting trying to find them best deal. Matt had a car on his lot that would work great for us, we could trade in the jeep, just had to get it up there... in comes Jim(dad lyons)! He had AAA and amazingly enough they towed it from Nashville to BG for free! As soon as Jeff got off work - and this is after hours of craziness - we headed up to BG! We rolled into town about 7:00 and met Matt at the dealership. Now, we are going into this a little blind. We know he has a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix for us, but other than that, we didn't know a lot. This was the car we could get, we didn't really have a choice, the VW was already up there... a little nerve racking for sure, and we had our hesitation about if we liked the Grand Prix to begin with. Well, we were happily surprised! We loved the car, took it for a wonderful test drive. The interior was much better than we thought it would be. Very sleek, all black with chrome accents, and it was very comfortable. The car was really easy to drive and had some great features - like remote start! I am thrilled about that one, especially with a new baby and cold winters and hot summers. Matt had all the paperwork ready and we were in and out really quick in our new car :)
We couldn't imagine the situation working out any better than it did. We are very grateful for all our family that helped in getting this all figured out. Thanks guys! I love the car and it will be perfect for our growing family!!

Very sleek, all black with chrome accents, and it was very comfortable. The car was really easy to drive and had some great features - like remote start! I am thrilled about that one, especially with a new baby and cold winters and hot summers. Matt had all the paperwork ready and we were in and out really quick in our new car :)
We couldn't imagine the situation working out any better than it did. We are very grateful for all our family that helped in getting this all figured out. Thanks guys! I love the car and it will be perfect for our growing family!!

Wow this was a busy weekend!
I am sitting here watching the green bay and titans game by myself and thought I would do a little multitasking and give everyone a little update. I guess really everything I am blogging about is from this weekend - no wonder I am tired!
I guess we will start at the beginning - Friday. I had the day off which was wonderful, but we had some sick kitties to take care of. They both had some sneezing and runny noses and watery eyes that needed some attention. We took them to a great vet that saw them both and gave them meds but only charged us for one. Some things we learned: "little bit" is a girl and she is getting some stripes! They are both about a pound and a half, probably 7 weeks or so, and are perfect other than a slight upper respitory infection that is common amount young kittens. We have some antibiotics and eye drops and you can tell they are already feeling better. Well we are still looking for homes for them if anyone is interested! They are getting more and more playful and cute and we would love to get them to their permanent home soon!! Here is a photo of our new little girl! Haha she is enjoying the game with me.
Onto Saturday! We started early: 9 am childbirth class! It was very informative... Almost too much so! We learned a lot in this first class about the 3 trimester, stages of labor, and relaxation techniques. It was a delicate balance between learning and not getting too scared for what will happen just a few months from now. Next week we talk epidurals, so that will help I am sure ;)
After class we got some lunch and test drove a couple new cars. We are looking to trade in jeffs jeep - the hour and a half to two hour daily commute is wearing on him with the noise and cold with a soft top wrangler. Plus it is not the ideal vehicle to tote a baby around in either! So we test drove a hard top 4 door jeep wrangler as a possibility. It was much much quieter and had a smoother ride. It has a full back seat and would be easily accessable for the car seat and the "trunk" space is huge! We looked at an automatic so I could drive it and jeff would be able to tend to the baby while driving instead of haonf to whist as well. It had some "modern" conviences too: power windows and locks, iPod ready, cruise, better temp and sound too. So all this would make it a better family car but is also trail rated so a can go off road when we want. Option 2 is the ford flex. I was not a huge fan of the exterior but the rest of it totally won me over! We just looked at the entry level flex but it had everything and more! 3 rows of seating, iPod ready, leather wrapped steering wheel, rear assist, tons of storage, great safety features and just huge inside! It felt great to drive, very smooth and natural and felt very safe and secure. Me likie! This decision is still a few months out, but so far we like these 2 options!!
Part 3 of our Saturday was the church retreat at daves farm. We had a great time!! We are really feeling at home at the bridge, even more so when we were there at the beginning - our small group has so much to do with that, so thanks guys we love you all :) we enjoyed hanging out, grillin out, setting up the tent, a HUGE bonfire, and just some awesome fellowship time. We were totally worn out and finally headed home about 10 - smelling like firewood of course! We would have loved to camp but with my current condition and jeff having to work the towns game this morning, we decided it wouldn't be the best option.
So that brings us to today, Sunday! Jeff was up and out early to work the titans game, and I joined the rest of the retreat at worship at 10. It was a wonderful service in the barn with issacs music, josh's teaching, and great news from the staff and the elders. I am excited to see where God leads the bridge next. Dave cooked some great BBQ and we had another great meal with friends and family. That beings me to now- watching the titans game!! The day is still gonna be a long one, just over in time to start a new week or work- eiyaya.
