Charlotte is 4 Months Old!

Charlotte turned 4 months old on Saturday!  I cannot believe how much she has changed and grown in just a few short months.  We had her checkup on friday she is now 13 pounds 10 ounces and 24 3/4 inches long.  She grew 3 inches in the past 2 months!  I think she is gonna be a tall little one.  They say that if you double their height at 2 years old that is how tall they will be when they grow up - I'll have to try and remember to do that in a couple years! She got her monthly shots, but she was a trooper and only cried for a minute or two.  Overall the peds appointment was all good news! She is developing wonderfully and the doctor is really thrilled at how much she has caught up to other babies her age even though she was 3 weeks early.  She started in the 5th percentile when she was born for her height and weight and now she is in the 53% for weight and 70% for height!

We got the go ahead for eating cereal so we tried that on Sunday.  She did great!  I was prepared for her to spit and sputter and not really eat any, but she ate all I fixed and only made a bit of a mess ;) she had a little bit more that evening before bed and then slept for 11 hours straight!  She had only been getting up about once or twice in a 12 hour period before so it really wasn't too bad, but getting a full nights sleep was awesome!

She is doing great developmentally - she is holding her head up wonderfully and a lot of the time wants to being sitting up on your lap so she can check out what is going on.  When she doesn't want to be sitting up she loves just laying flat on her back on the couch or floor.  She just kicks and stretches even rolls on her side even flipped herself over a couple times.  She found her toes the other day and will just sit and grab at them in the air. She had the biggest brightest smile that lights up her whole face- big blue eyes included.  She has yet to give us a really giggle but you can look at her face and know that is is there, just waiting to come out!  Even though we are lacking a giggle, we know she has some vocals! She talks up a storm.  We can sit and have a conversation with her for 5 minutes - mimicking back and forth, cooing and gurgling  - she says hi and mamamamama (she just doesn't know she says it!) I love it when she decides she wants to converse :) The other big thing she has started to do is watch TV!  We got a new 46 inch mama jama LCD TV and she loves watching it.  It can be cartoons, baby Einstein, or whatever mom and dad are watching.   All the colors and movement and sound just grabs her attention.  She'll do the same thing out the window when the trees are blowing really hard.  At some point we'll have to start limiting her "tv time" but for now when she really can't play with toys but gets bored just laying around it works wonders!

I have been blessed to be staying home with our little bug and working at Apple a couple weekends.  One of the things that make this possible is a little 6 month old named Fischer and a 2 month old named Rosslyn! I watch Fischer M-F 7:30 to 5:30 and Rosslyn a couple days a week.  Right now none of them are really old enough to play with each other, but here soon they will love having a play buddy!  It is hard work for sure, but it allows me to stay home with Charlotte and I wouldn't trade that for anything in the world!

I think that is about it for Charlotte updates.  She did get a new cousin last monday!  Reese Claire Lyons was born to Jeff's brother Matt and his wife Cheryl.  We went up there Tuesday to visit them in Bowling Green KY.  Visiting the hospital had Jeff and I flashing back for sure!  In some ways it seems like just yesturday that Charlotte was born and in other ways it seems like ages ago.  Reese was born right on time so she was so alert compared to Charlotte!  I didn't realize how much Charlotte slept and was quiet until seeing Reese wide awake and looking around.  So it was true after all - Charlottes system still knew she was supposed to be in the womb and she acted like it!  Anyway, Reese was 7.2 pounds and holding her was crazy!  Charlotte was 2 pounds lighter when she was born, but Reese still seemed so tiny!  Just amazing how life is.  Sadly, Matt and Cheryl are moving up to Lexington KY soon, so we won't get to see them as much anymore.  Charlotte and Reese will have fun growing up together regardless!
